Internships to enable students to apply what they have learned are an integral part of the curriculum and mandatory for all of the Grandes Ecoles and certain university degrees in France. These may take place at the end or during the course of studies, and businesses place increasing emphasis on work experience as proof that this education is a genuinely professional qualification. They increasingly lead to a first firm job offer.

The Applied Statistical Internship lasts at least 8 weeks and takes place at the end of the second year, starting in June. Students write up a report on this internship on which their work experience is assessed. This report provides a reasoned presentation of the statistical methods used and the principal results.

The End-of-studies Internship lasts between twenty weeks and six months and enables the students to apply what they have learnt in their third year of chosen studies. This internship starts in April, and students write up a report on this period. They then have an oral defense in November. The examining board then decides whether or not to validate their internship.
