Enter ENSAI in 2016
The National School for Statistics and Information Analysis (École nationale de la statistique et de l’analyse de l’information, Ensai), member of the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, is dedicaced to prepare its students to jobs pertaining to information collection and analysis, in the economic and social fields, as well as in industry, marketing, finance, biology, health and information systems.
To carry out this mission, Ensai admits both French and international candidates though a competitive exam, which has two specialties:
> «Mathematics » : on the curriculum of classes aimed to prepare for Schools of Engineering (classes préparatoires), in both MP and MP* courses, from the polytechnic common competitive exams (concours communs polytechniques, CCP)
Enrollment is open from December 6th, 2015 to January 6th, 2016 at midnight on www.scei-concours.fr.
- Economics and Social Sciences competitive exam: on the curriculum of classes aimed to prepare for Schools of Engineering (classes préparatoires) B/L, from the inter-ENS exam bank
- Economics and Accounting competitive exam, economy and accounting option: on the curriculum of classes aimed to prepare for ENS Cachan D2 (classes préparatoires), from the ENS Cachan exams
Enrollment is open from December 6th, 2015 to January 6th, 2016 at midnight on www.concours-bce.com.
Ensai recruits into two statuses:
> Engineering students (civilian): Ensai Engineer, for which the "engineer" title is authorized by the Engineer Title Commission (Commission des titres d’ingénieurs, CTI), and imparts a Master's level
Schooling lasts 3 years (of which 2 years are of common studies and 1 year is a specialization).
> Civil servant, intern of Insee (attaché level): attaché level of civil servant for Insee, with the possibility of obtaining, under some conditions, a Bac+5 level (M2) via the "Statistics and Econometrics, speciality Public Statistics" Master's degree, thanks to a diploma-awarding continuous training.
Schooling lasts 2 years, during which one is gratified (approximately 1550 € per month, after taxes).
For a specialty, the exams are the same whether one aims to become engineer or civil servant for Insee. For each status, each of the two specialties has a limited amount of places available, and has a separate ranking. During enrollment, one can apply for either engineer, civil servant or both statuses (one must express his preferences in July during the school wish phase).
Ensai also recruits transfer students as engineers, who must have either a HMD equivalent diploma (Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie, DUT) either STID (Statistics and Information Processing, STastistique et Informatiqu Décisionnelle) or in computer science, or a L3/M1 level having specialized in Mathematics, MASS (Mathematics applied to Social Sciences, Mathématiques appliquées et sciences sociales), Economic Sciences, or MIAGE (Computer Science Methods applied to Business Management, Méthodes informatiques appliquées à la gestion d'entreprise).
Applications are carried out exclusively online on Ensai's website. Since 2011, Ensai has implemented a new recruitment procedure that is specific to candidates who have studied abroad. This procedure is carried out ahead of time in order to help overcome candidate's difficulties tied to obtaining visas, scolarships...
Recruitment for civil servants is also carried out through an internal competitive exam (for candidates who are already civil servants). Those who wish to apply to the internal competitive exam should refer to the specialized brochure, which is available at the "exams and competitive exams" section of the Directorate General of Insee (phone: +33 (0) 1 41 17 51 89 / email email@example.com)
Since the start of the 2012 school year, Ensai offers a "Statistics and Econometry, specialized in Public Statistics" Master's degree, co-authorized with Rennes 1 University:
- Candidates must have a Master 1 (Bac+4) or equivalent level
- One is admitted at M2 level
- Application calendar: from March to the end of May
- Ensai must receive the application dossier before mid-June 2016 (it must contain the form one completes on-line then prints out, dates and signs, as well as supporting documents)
